Ideas for Families.

Logis Du Pressoir / Ideas for Families

The Loire Valley has masses to offer children of all ages and we can guarantee you will never run out of ideas for days out. Here are a few of our favourite suggestions:

Tree Climbing (accrobranche) at Parcours 49 Set in wonderful pine forests 5 minutes from us, this park is really popular, with climbing for youngsters photo of Tom accrobranche as well as challenging high routes for adults.

Cycling: Safe and easy cycling straight from our property or pop down to Gennes (Cycle Obsession) to hire bikes and trailers, and is situated on the Loire-à-Velo river cycle paths. Check out the tourist board site here.

Loire River: In the Summer the Loire river reveals sand banks and islands that can be accessed by foot and which provide wonderful ‘Robinson Crusoe’ spots for picnicking.

Lakes: whilst swimming in the Loire is not permitted (due to strong currents) there are several lakes with with supervised swimming and play areas: Fontaine Guerin, base de loisirs de la Monnerie La Flèche, Etang de Malague.

There are some amazing activity parks to visit in this region, all of which have excellent picnic facilities for families.

20 minutes away in Baugé, a perennial favourite is HOLLY PARK packed with fun rides and entertainment for children of all ages. Parc de Loisirs de l’Etang, is well set up for younger visitors and perfectly located for combining a chateau visit (Brissac ) with fun for the kids.

Terra Botanica is just 25 minutes from us in Angers and here you can lose yourselves all day. Rediscover the world in an amazing multi-sensory environment, that you will want to visit again and again.

Hugely popular with the French but little known outside of France is the Puy du Fou. An amazing adventure park of fantastic animated shows and re-enactments, staged in a open-air arena. A ‘must visit’ if you have never been!

At Nantes the Machines de l’île is an amazing sight. Built on the site of the old naval docks , a dream world of extraordinary Jules Vernes inspired machines has been created; a gigantic mechanical elephant (that you can ride on), monsters and engines as well as the work shop can be visited.

Futuroscope is a theme park with futuristic rides, 3d shows and light displays.

The world famous Eurodisney makes a great two centre holiday, combined with the Loire Valley. Just 90 minutes Angers-Paris on the high speed railway

There are two fantastic zoos to choose from close by:

BioParc Zoo de Doue, set in an re-discovered ancient quarry and specialising in endangered species projects around the world. The aviary is not to be misse

La Feche zoo has great shows for kids throughout the day.

Logis Du Pressoir Pony TrekkingOur local riding centres have friendly, experienced personnel who can help complete novices to experienced riders alike. Alternatively, pack a picnic and head to St. Mathurin for a leisurely donkey ride along the banks of the Loire. Stunning views and friendly donkeys!

All of these are available along the river and our favourites Include: a guided trip on an original Loire flat boat at sunset and kayaking from la Base Nautique de La Menitré, just down the road.

Many French castles are much more family friendly nowadays, with great animations for children, especially in the Summer months. Try one of the many famous ‘son et lumiere’ (sound and light) shows or the Chivalric Season at Saumur Château
